Supporting Responsible Tourism in Practice

The Institute of Tourism exists to strengthen the tourism sector by equipping professionals with the knowledge, networks, and leadership skills needed to respond to a rapidly changing industry.

Through education, professional development, and thought leadership, the Institute is actively supporting the transition toward more responsible tourism by:

  • Promoting evidence-based approaches to destination management
  • Encouraging better understanding of tourism’s social, environmental, and economic impacts
  • Supporting professionals to apply responsible tourism principles in real-world contexts
  • Creating opportunities for shared learning across the sector

The Institute of Tourism has partnered with ICRT global to support its scholarship programme with ITB Berlin and to deliver an exclusive three-part Responsible Tourism Lecture Series, led by Professor Harold Goodwin, one of the world’s leading authorities on responsible tourism.

This lecture series is a direct extension of the Institute of Tourism’s mission; turning principles into practice.

Lecture 1 – Principles of Responsible Tourism

Lecture 2 – Principles of Rebalancing Tourism
