Scholarship opportunity to launch at ITB Berlin 2026
The non-profit International Centre for Responsible Tourism global (ICRT global) has become a CSR partner of ITB Berlin the world’s leading travel trade show.
This March in partnership with ITB, ICRT global will announce details of a new scholarship opportunity for a cohort of global professionals to apply for free access to its online training courses.
ICRT global runs ten and twelve-week online training courses in responsible tourism and rebalancing tourism. A third course in creating economic impact will launch later in 2026. All courses have been created with the support of easyJet holidays by world-leading expert emeritus professor Harold Goodwin who authored the 2002 Cape Town Declaration on Responsible Tourism. The courses are designed to stimulate fresh thinking and help busy tourism professionals review their ability to take responsibility to make better places to live in and better places to visit. The scholarships will be awarded to applicants at any stage in their career who demonstrate their potential for impact, financial need, motivation and geographical and sectorial diversity, particularly welcoming candidates from the global south.
ITB Berlin is actively involved in promoting social responsibility (CSR) within the tourism industry and the partnership with ICRT global is part of its remit to support responsible tourism projects and to foster industry dialogue.
Ryan Fuller CSR commissioner of ITB said: “ITB Berlin recognises that to make a lasting difference we need to use our key position and build partnerships to support and promote responsible tourism initiatives. The work of ICRT global absolutely aligns with our values – putting education and collaboration at the heart of new dialogues in the industry. We welcome ICRT global as our new CSR partner and look forward to developing scholarship opportunities for emerging industry talent.”
Debbie Hindle, chair of ICRT global who will be attending ITB said: “Our mission is to share responsible tourism best practice and new thinking between travel sectors and nations. We’ve had a tremendous response to our online courses, but we want to make them more widely accessible to support the changemakers of the future. We are delighted to be working in partnership with ITB on this programme and to announcing more details at ITB this March.”
ICRT global also champions a new wave of tourism leaders by sharing knowledge through the free-to-enter Responsible Tourism Awards, corporate workshops and acts as a global hub of a likeminded network of responsible tourism professionals around the world in South America, West and Southern Africa, Europe, Sri Lanka, the India Subcontinent and Southeast Asia.
